Meet Dr. Engineer

Dr. Nitin J. Engineer is an accredited, fellowship-trained Plastic Surgeon specializing in Aesthetic, Reconstructive, Hand, and Microvascular Surgery. He is the founder, CEO, and principal surgeon at Engineered Aesthetics Plastic Surgery Institute, which is dedicated to serving the greater Las Vegas metropolitan area. Dr. Engineer developed a very early interest in the surgical specialties when he secured one of only two positions as a high-school student to work as an Anesthesia Technician in the operating room in his hometown of Macon, Georgia. He held this position for three consecutive years, and this rare opportunity would be the foundation of his deeply rooted passion for plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Engineer’s earliest experiences in the operating room exposed and allowed him to observe complex reconstructive operations involving the entire human body. His greatest admiration for plastic and reconstructive surgery is the emphasis on not only reconstruction of form but also restoration of function for patients. Furthermore, Dr. Engineer’s extensive experience in Reconstructive Plastic Surgery has prepared him for his successful career in the field of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which he considers to be the perfect union of art and science.

Education And Training

In 1992, Dr. Engineer began his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, a city that he holds near and dear to his heart. In order to diversify his background, he elected to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in French, as well as enroll in a rigorous premedical curriculum. Dr. Engineer excelled academically at this prestigious institution and was one of ten individuals to receive early acceptance during his sophomore year into the equally prestigious Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He graduated Cum Laude from Vanderbilt University in 1996 and completed his Doctorate of Medicine at Vanderbilt University in 2000. Dr. Engineer’s postgraduate education is extensive and initially included completion of a General Surgery internship at the University of Washington in Seattle followed by a General Surgery residency at Southern Illinois University in Springfield, Illinois. In 2007, he completed a fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery with the Division of Plastic Surgery at Southern Illinois University.

Immediately following his Hand and Microvascular Surgery fellowship training, Dr. Engineer joined the faculty at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and served as Clinical Instructor with the Department of Surgery, where he taught and directed medical students, residents, and fellows in the field of Hand and Microvascular Surgery.

In 2009, Dr. Engineer subsequently moved his practice to Las Vegas and ultimately built EXTREMICURE® Hand Center, where he had been dedicated to treating patients with any ailment or injury involving the upper extremity.

In 2016, Dr. Engineer would experience another fortuitous and rare second chance to return to the University of Louisville and study Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery with his greatest mentor, Dr. Bradon J. Wilhelmi, who had previously trained him to become a Hand and Microvascular Surgeon. Although Dr. Engineer had developed a successful and busy hand surgery practice in Henderson, Nevada, he always regretted not capitalizing on an earlier opportunity to become a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. Having a profound belief in destiny and one’s calling, Dr. Engineer closed his practice and returned to Louisville, Kentucky to continue his educational journey to the surprise of many. He completed his training in October 2019, where he also received the Clinical Excellence Award in 2019 and graduated with the highest number of cases performed in the history of the program. Following graduation, Dr. Engineer immediately returned to Las Vegas, Nevada, the community that he adores and calls home without any intention of ever leaving again.

Dr. Engineer has completed a total of 10 years of postgraduate training in plastic surgery, hand surgery, and general surgery in an effort to refine his surgical skills and provide the most comprehensive and compassionate care to all of his patients.
